`code of conduct`

At [orchard] events we are dedicated to providing a welcoming and safe experience for all. We ask that you hold respect for the space and the people within it.

Respecting each other

  • ‘Host mindset’: if you see someone alone, go talk to them! Often, this looks like someone who is physically in a group but is not really engaging in a conversation. Try to ask questions and include them!
  • Be thoughtful in how you communicate. People at our sessions come from all different backgrounds and are looking to learn -- be ready to explain concepts and terms at varying levels of complexity and avoid exclusive jargon.
  • Don’t interrupt people when they’re speaking. Be positive or constructive when talking about other projects.
  • Respecting the space

    Harassment and hostile behaviour

Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. Harassment includes but is not limited to:

We also expect all participants to be respectful when discussing other people and their projects; unnecessary negative comments will not be tolerated.

Hosts may ask anyone violating the harassment policy to leave the session. If you’ve been asked to leave, you must obtain written approval (ox.orchard@gmail.com) from [orchard]’s host team prior to joining us for any future sessions or [orchard] events.

    Reporting

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible (ox.orchard@gmail.com or speak to a host in person). We take all reports very seriously.
